In this photographic essay, Oriane Zérah has chosen flowers as a thread to share her vision of this war-torn country for over forty years. It is the reflection of a decade of travels throughout the country, including more than six years living full time in Kabul. Very attached to Afghanistan, she wishes to represent its people - especially its men - in an unusual and surprising way.


This project is an enchanting pictorial excursion into another Afghanistan, one that is not reduced to its tragedies. What these images want to show is the very power of roses beyond their thorns.

* For addresses in the UK, estimate shipping time is 1-3 business days via DPD tracked.
* International shipping is available to all destinations via standard international post or DHL. For all addresses outside the UK, estimate shipping time is 5-12 business days.

You can now take advantage of our Tax-Free Shipping service when shopping online for deliveries outside the UK. Simply add your chosen items to cart and UK VAT will be deducted from the cost of your purchase(s). A flat-rate delivery charge (depending on the delivery address) will be automatically added. Returns

Returns Policy:

We will be happy to offer a full refund (excluding shipping) on items returned within 14 days of receipt of delivery. 

* Returned items must be unworn, unwashed and undamaged products purchased directly from ISHKAR.com.
* Proof of purchase is required.
* Sale Items are non-refundable.
* Custom and made-to-order objects are non-refundable unless faulty.
* Photography prints are printed to order and are therefore not refundable.
* For defective, damaged or incorrect items, please notify us within five days of delivery in order to receive a refund/exchange.

The Story

Oriane Zerah

Oriane Zerah was born in Paris where she studied Dramatic Art. Later on she catches the travel bug which has never left her since. End of 2011 she settled down in Afghanistan. Photographer she is also the author of two books, and also a jewelry and accessories designer. Since more than 2 years she works on a project which chooses to depict Afghanistan through the unique and beautiful relation Afghan people have with flowers.
