The Snow Leopard Talisman is a collaboration between designer and jeweller, Alia Païenda and ISHKAR, handcrafted in Afghanistan.
A tangible expression of Alia’s Afghan heritage and a shared visual language, these reversible pendants depict the elusive snow leopard on the one side and an expression of peace on the other, finished with an emerald from the Panjshir valley of Afghanistan, a beautiful pendant that reminds us to find peace, even in the harshest circumstances.
Handcrafted in the old city of Kabul from 18ct Gold Plated Sterling Silver. Also available in Sterling Silver.

Shipping Terms:
We will aim to dispatch orders within 3-4 working days of purchase date but please be aware that we are a small team and delays can occur.
* For addresses in the UK, estimate shipping time is 1-3 business days via DPD tracked.
* International shipping is available to all destinations via standard international post or DHL. For all addresses outside the UK, estimate shipping time is 5-12 business days.

We will be happy to offer a full refund (excluding shipping) on items returned within 14 days of receipt of delivery.
* Returned items must be unworn, unwashed and undamaged products purchased directly from ISHKAR.com.
* Proof of purchase is required.

* Custom and made-to-order objects are non-refundable unless faulty.

Afghan Craftsmanship
In 1978 an Afghan-Soviet team of archaeologists discovered a hoard of over 20,000 ornaments, jewellery, and precious artefacts in Northern Afghanistan. Dated back to the first century BCE, the Tillya Tepe hoard is renowned for its staggering beauty and finesse.
Afghanistan's rich jewellery tradition continues to this day. Stimulated by influences from across the ancient silk road and tribal traditions within Afghanistan, Afghan jewellers benefit from direct access to an array of fine precious and semi-precious gemstones, including emeralds, rubies, lapis lazuli, tourmaline and kunzite.

Blue is one of the rarest colours found in nature. Up until the 18th century, whether you were a Pharaoh or an artist, there was only one place you could find blue in its natural form - the high peaks of north-eastern Afghanistan.
When ground into a fine powder, Lapis gives a strikingly blue pigment. This made Lapis a priceless commodity, surpassing the price of gold up until the industrial age,
To this day, Afghanistan remains home to the world's largest deposit of Lapis Lazuli. Due to this, you'll find Lapis in many of the jewellery pieces we offer.
