Travel through Tajikistan's remote Bartang Valley and Wakhan Corridor in Autumn 2025.

The trip will run for 15 days from 22 September - 6 October, starting and ending in Dushanbe.

International flights to Dushanbe are to be organised by participants directly.

We interview all those that apply to join the trip. Once selected, participants will be required to pay a 20% deposit to secure their place on the trip (total price for the trip to be determined).

What?

Explore the high altitude landscapes and ancient villages of Tajikistan's Pamir Mountains for 15 days.

Where?

The south of Tajikistan where we will explore the Pamir Highway, travel alongside the Tajik side of the Wakhan Corridor and into the rarely visited and high altitude Bartang Valley.

Who?

You do not need to be an experienced mountaineer or an expert photographer to join the trip. We seek those that are adventurous with a curious mind. A base level of fitness is also required for the trip with a two day hike & wild camping planned in the Bartang Valley.

We will be a small team of up to 8 people, with a minimum of 5 travellers to guarantee the departure.

Throughout the trip, we will be accompanied by a competent local guide who speaks fluent English, along with a member of ISHKAR.

Due to high demand we interview everyone who applies to ISHKAR trips. Your group travel experience is as important to us as the destination experience.

Our Destination

Tajikistan is known for its rugged mountains, which make up 93% of the country's land area, as well as its rich culture and history.

This journey offers a 15 day exploration into the remote Bartang Valley, and Wakhan corridor where geographical isolation has allowed distinctive cultures, languages and traditions to continue.

The Bartang Valley is known for its stunning natural beauty, including dramatic peaks, turquoise rivers, and pristine glaciers.

The Wakhan Corridor is a high-altitude region that is home to several ethnic groups, including the Wakhi, who are known for their distinct culture and language. The corridor is also famous for its historic Silk Road trading routes and ancient Buddhist sites.
