Nabil Musa

Of only over 300 Waterkeepers in the world, Nabil Musa was also the first in the Middle East and is the only Waterkeeper in Iraq. The term ‘waterkeeper’ is used to denote someone who is key in coordinating water preservation areas, a ‘voice for water’. Growing up swimming in the rivers in Iraq, Nabil ‘really wanted to do something about the river we lost when I was a child’. For many years, Nabil spent time travelling - often on a paddleboard or in a raft - around Kurdistan on a one-man mission to promote the importance of clean waterways for current and future generations.
