AZEZANA

AZEZANA is an Afghanistan-based social enterprise established by Shaima Breshna in 2003 with the aim of providing vulnerable women with opportunities to become financially independent, while also reviving Afghanistan’s silk & cashmere industry. AZEZANA now employs 11 women in Kabul who lead the production process from start to finish. All weavers initially embark on a training program by the master weaver, Mohammad Agha. On top of their salaries, each weaver is offered daily education and healthcare.

AZEZANA has created an entirely Afghanistan based value-chain, sourcing all raw materials from the raw silk and raw cashmere, to the natural dyes and the wooden handlooms used in the weaving process.
