The Ikat used on these coats is orginaillly from Uzbekistan. Uzbeki silk ikats have large, brilliantly coloured motifs. Their deep colours come from natural vegetal dyes which colour the silk yarn through an extensive tie and dye process.
We collaborated with Kabul based tailor's, Sarra Design, to create these unique coats. Shahla, Sarra Design's founder, handpicks vintage fabrics she finds in Kabul's bazaars. She brings new life to these vintage pieces, incorporating them with modern cuts and contemporary finishes in her Kabul atelier.
