The Designer
Amelie Pichard is one of France’s most exciting independent designers. She has collaborated with everyone from Pamela Anderson to Opening Ceremony. Pichard’s creative process revolves around playing with cliches. Her designs are unorthodox yet wearable, vintage, but unmistakably urban.
The Hippie Trail
Before the soviet invasion in 1979, Afghanistan lay the heart of the Hippie Trail. Thousands of hippies came through Afghanistan, drawn by its reputation for mythic beauty, age-old craftsmanship, famous hospitality (and perhaps its native cannabis too…). Pichard’s joyous collection evokes the nostalgia of that time.
Artisans
This piece was produced by master artisans in Afghanistan. Since the Taliban took over in August 2021, we have removed all identifying references of our partners for security reasons. Some of our partners were able to leave Afghanistan. For those who remain, their craft is critical to sustain their livelihoods at a time when the country is in financial collapse and in the grip of a humanitarian disaster. Every order we are able to make with our partners is more important now than ever before.
