Title: Social Media Intern

Start: 15th October 2023

Salary: Voluntary

Fixed Term: Until Dec 23rd with a view to becoming a permanent paid position from January 2024. 

 

20 Hours a Week.

Days: Flexible.

ISHKAR’s working hours: 10am - 6pm

Location: Remote, with occasional in-shop presence to capture content on Sunday market day and when new collections are out for display in the shop.

* option to work at ISHKAR’s studio located in E2 7LF

Some of your hours would include occasional Weekend/Evening Work, required to capture event content. Some of which take place outside of London and after 18:00pm.

Job Description

 

ISHKAR is in search of a confident and creative Social Media Intern to take the lead in creating exciting content and managing ISHKAR’s Social Media schedule. You should have a deep knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, X(Twitter), and TikTok and how to deliver engaging, informative, and surprising content that resonates with ISHKAR’s brand and messaging.  

The ideal candidate will be confident in understanding ISHKAR’s mission and translating that into visual medium. An interest and understanding of the regions in which ISHKAR works, and the ability to write in a company voice with a sensitivity to complex subject matters. 

 

What you would achieve in 3 months:

  • Manage and grow an instagram account of 27.6k followers at present
  • Increase engagement over a 3-months period, with a particular focus on instagram
  • Deliver a strong christmas campaign across socials to increase sales
  • Set up a guide or roadmap for managing ISHKAR’s social media accounts
  •  

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Manage ISHKAR’s Social Media accounts - Instagram, Facebook,  X(Twitter), and establish a presence for ISHKAR on TikTok
    • Capture captivating image and video content for use across all digital channels.
    • Write persuasive social and digital copy for posts and captions using information from press releases, website listings and notes.
    • Develop and manage a scheduling system using tools like Hootsuite. 
    • Design and edit digital assets that align with our brand identity.
    • Content organisation: Ensure that all digital content is well-organised and stored correctly on internal systems, streamlining content creation and retrieval.
    • Stay updated with the latest social media trends and digital technologies, ensuring that our content remains fresh, relevant, and appealing to our target audience. 
    • Analyse and action changes to the way ISHKAR manages its current platforms. 
    • Responding to comments on posts and stories.
    • Creating social media campaigns to increase engagement and target new audiences
    • Researching and sharing interesting and relevant articles, stories, and images with ISHKAR’s audience
    • Seek out collaborations with other brands/photographers/models to draw attention to ISHKAR’s work and encourage engagement from new audiences.
    • Carrying out research for team projects
    • Analysing social media numbers regularly
    • Preparing periodic reports for review by a supervisor

    REQUIREMENTS

    * Experience in (or enthusiasm for) planning and creating entertaining and engaging social media content.

    * Proficient in Adobe Suite and/or Canva

    * Copywriting skills

     

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Support on ad hoc tasks as requested by the rest of ISHKAR’s team.

    NOTES

    * You will be required to provide your own laptop + mobile phone. 

    * Holidays: ISHKAR requires 2 weeks notice to book time off for holiday.  

     

    We are a small team with an entrepreneurial working style, and so this ToR may change as new projects arise. During this period some of the team will be working remotely. You will be expected to work independently working closely with the whole team. 

    This role will report to Electra Simon, Creative Director working closely with Nada Debaumont, ISHKAR’s Partnerships and Events Lead.
