Design
Ces gilets sont parfaitement conçus pour faire face aux hivers brutaux et rigoureux de l’Afghanistan et sont traditionnellement portés par les hommes afghans tout au long de l’année. Nous avons mis à jour le gilet traditionnel en associant une laine douce à une doublure contemporaine. Ils sont coupés pour convenir à toutes les tailles, grandes et petites.
The Tradition
Ces gilets sont le résultat d'une collaboration entre nous, le Conseil norvégien pour les réfugiés (NRC) et Zarif Designs, une entreprise de textile basée à Kaboul. Le projet a été financé par NRC et Zarif Designs a dispensé un an de formation sur mesure à 20 femmes déplacées par le conflit. Grâce à ces gilets, nous espérons créer des opportunités d’emploi à long terme pour les femmes.
L'impact
These waistcoats are the result of a collaboration between ourselves, the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) and Zarif, a Kabul based textiles company. NRC funded the project, and the textiles company provided one year of tailoring training to 20 women displaced by conflict. Through these waistcoats we hope to create long term employment opportunities for the women.
ZARIF
Zarif Design is a Kabul based atelier who specialise in high-quality tailoring of fine fabrics from Afghanistan and Central Asia. Today Zarif employs 52 Afghan artisans, 16 men and 36 women, working as tailors, seamstresses, embroiderers and weavers.
