Javid's father started the Noori family jewellery business in the 1950s. From a very young age Javid sat in his father's workshop, watching and learning his craft.
Returning to Afghanistan in 2002 after having been forced to flee to Pakistan during the time of the Taliban, Javid set up one of the best-equipped workshops in the country. Gaining a reputation for working only with Afghanistan's finest gemstones Javid's business thrived, in 2008 he began working closely with international jewellery designer Pippa Small.
Javid is committed to mentoring Afghanistan's next generation of jewellers; teaching part-time at the Turquoise Mountain Institute, and offering apprenticeships in his own workshop for the most promising emerging talents.
